Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Manuscript Preparation

1. Language: Manuscripts must be written in English.
2. Length: Research articles should be between 5,000 and 8,000 words, including references and appendices.
3. Format: Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX (.tex) format.
4. Font: Use a clear, legible font, such as Arial, Calibri, or Times New Roman, in size 12 points.
5. Spacing: Double-space the manuscript, including the title page, abstract, and references.
6. Margins: Leave 1-inch margins on all sides (top, bottom, left, and right).

Manuscript Structure

1. Title Page: Include the title, authors' names, affiliations, and contact information.
2. Abstract: Provide a concise abstract (150-250 words) summarizing the manuscript's main points.
3. Keywords: List 3-5 keywords relevant to the manuscript's content.
4. Introduction: Introduce the research topic, provide context, and clearly state the research question or hypothesis.
5. Methodology: Describe the research design, methods, and procedures used to collect and analyze the data.
6. Results: Present the findings in a clear and concise manner, using tables, figures, and text.
7. Discussion: Interpret the results, relate them to the literature, and discuss the implications of the findings.
8. Conclusion: Summarize the main points and reiterate the significance of the research.
9. References: List all sources cited in the manuscript, following the chosen citation style.
10. Appendices: Include any supplementary materials, such as raw data, extra figures or tables, or detailed descriptions of methodologies.

Citation Style

CogNexus uses the APA (American Psychological Association) citation style. Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscripts conform to this style.

Submission Requirements

1. Originality: Manuscripts must be original and not previously published or under consideration for publication elsewhere.
2. Authorship: All authors must have significantly contributed to the research and manuscript preparation.
3. Conflicts of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest or financial support.
4. Permissions: Authors must obtain necessary permissions for any copyrighted materials used in the manuscript.

Submission Process

1. Online Submission: Manuscripts should be submitted through our online submission system.
2. Cover Letter: Include a cover letter stating the manuscript's title, authors' names, and a brief summary of the research.
3. Manuscript File: Upload the manuscript file in Microsoft Word (.docx) or LaTeX (.tex) format.

Peer Review Process

1. Double-Blind Peer Review: Manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous.
2. Peer Review Timeline: The peer review process typically takes 4-6 weeks.
3. Revisions and Resubmission: Authors may be required to revise and resubmit their manuscripts based on peer reviewer feedback.

Publication Ethics

1. Plagiarism: Manuscripts must be free from plagiarism, and authors must properly cite all sources.
2. Data Fabrication: Authors must not fabricate or falsify data.
3. Authorship Disputes: Authors must resolve any disputes related to authorship before submission.
